Crofton Elementary School

This project challenged me to modernize an outdated, generic school mascot while creating a design suitable for screen printing applications. The elementary school sought a more sophisticated lion cub identity that would resonate with both students and staff.

The design process began with hand sketches exploring various poses and expressions, establishing the character's personality before digital refinement. Transitioning to Adobe Illustrator, I developed clean vector artwork optimized for reproduction across apparel, signage, and promotional materials.

Critical to the project was collaborative communication with school administrators to identify the ideal balance between youthful softness and mature confidence. Through iterative feedback sessions, I adjusted facial features, proportions, and line weights to capture strength without losing approachability—essential for an elementary school environment.

The final lion cub design features simplified geometry ideal for screen printing, bold outlines for visibility, and a welcoming expression that embodies school spirit. The modernized mascot strengthens brand identity while remaining practical and versatile across merchandise and marketing materials.
